Drink Seminar: The History Of IPA

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

First brewed in the 1800s, IPAs were initially formulated to withstand the long sea voyage from Britain to the Indian colonies. Brewers were surprised to find that the flavours of some ales were actually enhanced by their time at sea. Beer expert Ken Beattie and Rachaal Steele of Bomber Brewing offer this history of IPAs, examining how they have evolved in different parts of the world. They will compare and contrast English and North American IPAs, and west vs. east coast styles. Guests will enjoy a guided tasting that includes white IPAs, double IPA, and the biggest hop bomb we can find!
